SCHISM is a near-future dystopian story following a biological holocaust where only children survive and are left to pick up the pieces of a world full of violence and uncertainty.


In 2017, a virus developed by the US Government to be a biological weapon is accidentally released from the laboratory killing six billion people. The only survivors are children. Five years after this catastrophic event, a young girl named Andy Christensen and her two friends are forced to leave their home in Bermuda and return to the North American continent. There, they discover that America is wild and chaotic, and they soon band together with fellow survivors in search for a new place to call home.

The Author

Britt Holewinski was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Early on, she envisioned herself becoming an astronaut; however, shortly after completing her graduate degree from Pennsylvania State University, she was offered a job with the CIA and her dreams changed.


Britt started writing SCHISM twenty years ago, after being inspired by William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. Besides traveling for her job, she has visited nearly every location she has written about, including Bermuda, Paris, and the Channel Islands. She currently lives in the Washington DC area. SCHISM is her debut novel.
